Hi! I’m Jessica, a mom of three big kids who used to be little kids—two boys and a girl. I live in Minnesota and love it! One of my favorite words is “pivot,” and running is my lifeline; I genuinely believe it has saved me.
My parenting journey began at the tender age of 18. Just out of high school and with a sudden shift away from college, I was completely unprepared for the mental challenges of motherhood. Twelve days after my son Bailey was born, his father tragically lost his life in a car accident. Talk about a life-altering experience! I felt lost (though I didn’t always realize it) and made many mistakes during Bailey’s early years. Learning to put me first has been a crucial lesson, enabling me to become the parent I aspire to be and that my children deserve.
I did pursue my education—multiple times, in fact. I hold an associate’s degree, a bachelor’s degree, and a master’s degree. Remember the word “pivot”? It became significant in my life. I met my dream partner, Jeremy, and together we welcomed two more beautiful and fascinating children, Ethan and Maeva. Throughout this journey, I’ve navigated the ups and downs of imperfect parenting.
Like you, I’ve felt overwhelmed, questioned my identity, raised my voice, and even kicked brownies across the driveway (that’s a story for another day). I’ve lost my cool when it wasn’t my intention. However, I’ve experienced immense growth and feelings of overwhelm, uncertainty, and comparision no longer dictate how I parent.
By putting me first I’ve been able to make choices that align with my values and foster respectful, connected relationships with my children.
